Licensed Home Inspector serving the Capital Region
The appearance, taste, or odor of water alone cannot confirm its quality because many contaminants may be present without noticeable signs. Laboratory analysis provides information about the specific characteristics and contaminants included in the selected test. Aim High Home Inspection Services provides professional water sampling and laboratory-analyzed water quality testing for home buyers, homeowners, and other property owners throughout New York’s Capital Region and surrounding areas.

Water quality testing begins with selecting the appropriate laboratory test based on the property and the client’s needs. Water samples are collected from an appropriate plumbing fixture using laboratory-provided containers and required sampling procedures. The samples are then submitted to an independent laboratory for analysis of the characteristics and contaminants included in the selected test. After the results are received and reviewed, the laboratory report is emailed to the client with a clear explanation of the findings and recommended next steps when appropriate. Water quality testing is available with a home inspection or as a standalone service.
The laboratory report provides the measured result for each characteristic or contaminant included in the selected test, along with an applicable comparison value when available. Some results may relate primarily to taste, odor, staining, or plumbing concerns, while others may have health-based guidance. The findings apply only to the sample collected and do not evaluate contaminants that were not included in the selected test. Water quality may also change with the source, season, plumbing system, treatment equipment, and other conditions. After the report is reviewed, the findings are explained and additional sampling or evaluation by a qualified water-treatment professional may be recommended when appropriate.
Water quality testing is recommended when purchasing a property, particularly when the home is served by a private well or recent laboratory results are unavailable. Testing may also be appropriate when there is a change in the water’s taste, odor, or appearance; after flooding, well repairs, plumbing work, or installation of treatment equipment; or when contamination is suspected. A lender, local authority, or real estate transaction may require specific testing. Periodic testing may also be considered based on the water source, property conditions, household concerns, and applicable public-health guidance.
